春節筆記（2）：達爾文學院『起源』（Origins）

這套『劍橋年度主題講座』，數年前誠品進過書。

其實它是Darwin College( is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Cambridge.)--專收研究生（約600名）之學院之「通俗科學講座」-- The Darwin College Lectures。

我舉一書簡單地談一下。（讀該出版社的pdf 檔）

據前言，這是1986年某一學期的七篇演講錄。

翻譯有些疏忽。
譬如說，圖 1.2 翻譯「數千顆」，原文為「數十萬顆」。

第三頁
＊「一顆超新星」，原文為複數supernovae 。
＊ 翻譯文：「中國一位擔任『曆算電腦主機』角色….」--這是1054 年，科技太超前：翻譯者不知道computer的另一意思為：One who computes….

此外，有許多專業名詞可能要進一步釐正，譬如說第五頁的 self-gravitating （圖 1.2）等等。

以我讀幾頁就找到這樣的翻譯缺點密度，品質堪虞。


華夏出版社又是比較馬虎之出版社（本書無索引等之翻譯）。
